There are many misunderstandings about stainless steel rope clamps, from "304 is suitable for everyone" to "more clamps mean safer". Let's debunk these myths to ensure safe and cost-effective procurement.
Myth 1: 304 stainless steel is suitable for all environments.
Fact: 304 performs well in ordinary indoor/dry environment. However, in coastal, chemical or high salt fog environment, 304 is prone to pitting corrosion. 316L stainless steel containing molybdenum is mandatory under harsh corrosion conditions because of its excellent chloride corrosion resistance.
Myth 2: The more rope clips, the safer it is.
Fact: It is not safe to increase the quantity blindly. Installation follows strict standards:
-Quantity: 3 clamps for ropes ≤19mm; 4 clips of 19-32mm.
-Spacing: 6-8 times the diameter of the rope between the clamps.
-Excessive installation will lead to uneven stress and potential wire rope breakage.
Myth 3: Customization will always increase the price.
Fact: Simple customization (such as standard length and common finish) usually doesn't cost extra. The extra fee only applies to complex customization, such as special coating, non-standard thread specification or oversized/undersized design.
