Parameter Category |
Specifications and Requirements |
|
Nominal Diameter Range |
Common Sizes: 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 18, 20, 22, 25, 28, 32, 36, 40 mm Frequently Used Sizes: 6, 8, 10, 12, 15 mm Range Offered by Select Manufacturers: 6–60 mm (suitable for special-structure wire ropes) |
|
Number of Wire Rope Clips (Based on Wire Rope Diameter) |
≤18 mm: ≥3 18–26 mm: ≥4 26–36 mm: ≥5 36–44 mm: ≥6 44–60 mm: ≥7 Note: The construction industry has specific requirements (e.g., ≥3 for cantilevered scaffolding; ≥4 for cantilevered platforms). |
|
Rope Clip Spacing (A) |
6–7 times the wire rope diameter; generally, the requirement is ≥6d, while some sources suggest 6–8d. |
|
Installation Direction |
"The saddle rests on the live rope, and the U-bolt bears on the dead end" (i.e., the long rope presses against the short rope). All rope clips must be oriented in the same direction; they must not be staggered. |
|
Inner Diameter Matching |
d < 36 mm: The inner diameter of the wire rope clip is 0–2 mm larger than the wire rope diameter. d ≥ 36 mm: The inner diameter is 0–4 mm larger. |
|
Safety Curve Settings |
Leave a "safety bend" approximately 300–500 mm behind the last rope clip to monitor for slippage. |
|
Materials and Craftsmanship |
Forged Wire Rope Clips: Offer superior performance; recommended for load-bearing applications and often marked with "KG" or "S". Stainless Steel Wire Rope Clips: Designed for use in corrosion-resistant environments (e.g., marine settings, chemical plants). Cast Wire Rope Clips: Suitable for static tensioning applications; not recommended for dynamic loads |
|
Applicable Wire Rope Types |
Compatible with wire ropes featuring phosphated coatings, galvanization, stainless steel, smooth finishes, and similar surfaces. |
Structure of a Metal Wire Rope Clamp
The product has three parts:
A U-bolt. It holds the end of the wire rope in place.
A saddle, also called a pressure plate. It presses down on the part of the wire rope.
Nuts. They are used to attach the U-bolt to the saddle.
The U-bolt. The saddle work together, with the nuts to secure the wire rope.
How to Use a Metal Wire Rope Clamp
When you install it put the U-bolt over the end of the wire rope. The saddle should be against the end. All rope clips must face the way.
The number of rope clips you need depends on the wire ropes diameter. Keep them 6 to 7 times the rope diameter apart.
Tighten the one, by one evenly. Squeeze the wire rope to one-third of its original size.
After the rope has been used a bit tighten the nuts again.

FAQ
Q: How much weight can a metal wire rope clamp support?
A: Load capacities vary depending on the specific size and specifications. Each product features a clearly marked safe working load limit; please adhere to this marking and avoid overloading the clamp.
Q: Will the product rust during packaging and shipping?
A: No, it will not. We utilize individual packaging-either rust-inhibiting paper or plastic bags-and reinforce our outer cartons to ensure the products remain in pristine condition, even during long-distance sea transport.
Q: Can you provide custom surface treatments?
A: Yes, we can. In addition to the standard natural stainless steel finish, we offer various treatment options-such as Dacromet coating, galvanizing, blackening, and Teflon coating-to meet diverse requirements regarding corrosion resistance or aesthetic appearance.
